We were awarded with "Best Presentation" and "Best Overall" at the 2026 Calgary Game Developer Association's Arcade Jam, where we had a week to make an Arcade Game.
For this project, since we wanted to contribute to the whole "Arcade Game" aesthetic, we decided to include an 'Attract Mode' video at the start of the game that would really rope people in, so I spent some time in Davinci Resolve creating a retro-styled weather channel and news broadcast to really attract people with our multimedia approach.
Along with creating that video and the assets for it, I also programmed and implemented the High Score system for the game. With our project being in Godot, I designed a system that let us store two separate high scores (one for singleplayer, one for co-op) locally in the most lightweight way possible, along with making sure the scores display accurately and cleanly on the CGDA Arcade Machines.
Lastly, in the last few frantic days of the jam, I used Audacity along with some Creative Commons 0 sounds I was able to source online to add some sounds onto the project.
Overall, it was a ton of fun to blend so many mediums into a project, and I'm incredibly proud of how well our project turned out.
